A Totally New Mind!

Hey!

Can I just say…I am happy to be writing this morning. I have been praying about working on this assignment, I did not feel like I had a word to give, or how to go about this blog anymore and my mind was not picking up any God-signals, (lol) but I am here with a word to give now.

It is so interesting to me how our natural mind works; it makes us forget hurtful memories that may lead to incredible pain. It’s connection to our eyes make them light up when we see something that excites us. It holds our personalities, basically making who we are. However, the mind is susceptible to the daily patterns and habits we feed it. It seems to be ”oh, so powerful” but it really serves the body and it can be rewired. So then can we say it is the ‘flesh’ and the ‘mind’?

This helps me understand Romans 12:2; And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’ This means that no matter how powerful the mind is, or even the live-long patterns and habits that have formed who we are at the core, once we come into Christ and become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) there is a rewiring that begins to happen to manifest our new nature. In my life, I have come to realize that this new nature is not an overnight turnaround because “Death to the Flesh” is a painful process. There is a lot of unlearning and relearning to do, however, just like the scripture says; the relearning is not something we have to worry our heads over; the Holy Spirit and His word is the catalyst that will renew our mind.

There is a new level to unlock in our daily decision to choose God, and the deeper we get in our sincere relationship with Him, the ‘newer’ our mind gets. New habits start to form as we develop a taste for the things of God, slowly but surely we lose taste for old coping mechanisms, addictions, and ways of seeing the world. We receive new perceptions and perspectives with a completely different outlook on the world. In my case, I have realized that the spiritual definitely controls the physical (as in the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:10). I also realized that some things I found pleasure in and felt like I couldn’t do without, no longer do. I am still very much a work in progress but perfection does not mean flawless, it means maturity in understanding who God is to us.

It may take some time for you to notice the changes in how you speak, think, interact, the change in your circle of friends or, the things you enjoy but I promise you, it is there. Take some time to look at your life from the day you decided to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you will notice the certain newness of your mind and habits. Do not forget, we may fall into old ways sometimes, but (Proverbs 24:16) in your newness you do not have to remain fallen.

I hope this resonates with someone today. Enjoy your new life in Christ, there is no pressure to perform with Him because He is definitely working on the inside of you and loves you just the way you are. Remember, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). The lines are falling for you in pleasant places, enjoy your good inheritance! (Psalm16:6)

I love you,

Chito.
